Specialists in Closed Die Forging

Closed die forging is a highly precise metal forging process where the workpiece is inserted between two dies that contain the desired shape for forging. The dies are brought together, causing the workpiece to deform plastically until it fully contacts the die walls. Throughout the deformation, a thin layer of excess material, known as flash, is formed as it flows outside the die impression. This flash rapidly cools, creating an internal pressure within the workpiece.

The generated pressure aids the flow of material into the remaining unfilled portions of the die impression, ensuring complete shaping. Closed die forging is widely employed for producing a majority of forgings due to its ability to achieve intricate shapes and maintain dimensional accuracy. Once the forging process is complete, the flash is removed in a separate press using a trimming die.
